CareerLink and Career T.R.A.C.K. are partner agencies, but Career T.R.A.C.K. provides more intensive services including finding for training.

How much do your services cost?

Career T.R.A.C.K. is nonprofit funded by grants so all of our services are free for both job seekers and employers!

Can you answer a question about my unemployment compensation?

Career T.R.A.C.K.'s staff are not trained or up to date on current UC laws so you will have to call the UC Service Center for any unemployment compensation related questions.

 

Classroom Training

 

Who is eligible for classroom training?

When funding is available, an individual in need of skills who meets the dislocated worker or adult eligibility criteria can seek training.

 

When is funding available?

Career T.R.A.C.K. continuously applies for grant money. It can't be said specifically when the money will be available, but you should check with your local office for the current status.

 

What schools can I go to?

The school you attend must be state approved. You can search for approved providers through Job Gateway using the "Training Providers" link at the bottom of this page.

 

What programs are approved?

Approved programs can also be found through Job Gateway using the "Training Providers" link below.

 

What if the program or school I want to attend is not approved?

If your school/program is not listed, you should talk to your case manager about how it can be approved.

 

Will going to school extend my unemployment?

No, going to school is not connected with your unemployment. You will have to contact the Unemployment Office to find out what you are required to do while in school.

 

Do I have to pay the money back?

No, the money comes from grants under the Workforce Investment Act (WIA) which is a federal law providing training for people who are out of work and lack the skills needed to find employment.

 

On the Job Training

 

What is the benefit of On-the-Job Training?

On-the-Job Training benefits both the job seeker and the employer. Job seekers get to earn while they learn, and employers are reimbursed a percentage of the trainee's wages to help offset the costs incurred during training.

 

How much is an employer reimbursed?

Depending on the current grant, employer size, and position; Career T.R.A.C.K. will reimburse 50% to 90% of a trainee's wages for up to 6 months.

 

What does it cost to participate in On-the-Job Training?

There are never any fees or costs for job seekers or employers.

 

What employers participate?

Any employer can participate in On-the-Job Training!

 

How do I find an employer?

Talk to your case manager for leads or ways you can tell potential employers about On-the-Job Training. 

 

Is this a real job?

Yes! You will be a regular employee of the company and follow all of the same rules and procedures as the other employees.

 

What happens when the On-the-Job Training contract ends?

At the end of your training you will have learned a new set of skills. If you have shown satisfactory progress, the employer will retain you in a position with the company.

 

Does the employer have to keep the trainee if things aren't going well?

The goal is for the trainee to learn the skills needed to perform the job, but there is no obligation to keep an employee that is not meeting the 

 

Young Adult Programs

 

Who is eligible for the young adult program?

Individuals ages 16-24 with a barrier are eligible for the young adult program. Please see the Eligibility section for more information.

 

What is the young adult program?

The young adult program provides individuals with work experience by placing them at a job site for 4 months. On-the-Job Training opportunities are also available for young adult participants.

 

Job Club

 

Do I have to do this for unemployment?

You do not have to join Job Club for unemployment; however, it will satisfy your weekly search activity.
